During our tour near the river, we met a farmer harvesting spinach. He told us, “At this time of the year, it is the harvest season. After harvesting, we sell the vegetables in small markets around the village.” He also explained that they grow spinach near the river because they rely on its water for irrigation. That is why they do everything possible to keep the environment clean and to protect the river, as it helps them water their gardens and vegetable fields. They encourage everyone to do the same—to protect the environment—because it is their livelihood and their heritage.
